Lib Dems in Government Delivering Extra Training for Teesside
0 B documentThe Department for Business, Innovations and Skills has approved a £300,000 grant to Eaglescliffe plastics manufacturer Nifco in order to increase training levels and improve workforce skills.
The Department, headed up by Liberal Democrat Secretary of State, Vince Cable, is providing the funding from its Employer Ownership Fund (EOF). The grant is awarded on the basis of Nifco investing some of its own funds into the development of its people, and meeting a number of measures and milestones over a three year period.
Nifco, who supply parts to the automotive industry and celebrated a £12m factory extension in 2013, will use the grant to provide extra skills training in areas such as maintenance and quality.
Chair of Stockton Lib Dems, Nick Webb said, "This is an excellent example of how Liberal Democrats in Government are helping to unlock the potential of our workforce. Teesside will benefit in both the short-term and the long-term from the additional skills that this grant will help to provide. Nifco are an excellent local employer that has demonstrated commitment to developing its workforce over an extended period of time. I am sure they will see a boost to both productivity and to bottom line profit from this further investment in people development."
