Drew's statement as Parliamentary candidate for Stockton South 2017

The "Hard Brexit" Conservative government of Theresa May must be stopped. Every vote for the LibDems gives us more authority to stop the potential disaster of abandoning the single market and the customs union. For years Conservatives claimed to be the party of business with a long-term economic plan. Now, while Labour provide the weakest possible opposition, the Conservatives plan to destroy our biggest export market with tariffs and burdensome administration at the borders.

Our constitution starts with these words... "The Liberal Democrats exist to build and safeguard a fair, free and open society, in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community, and in which no one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity." That in a nustshell, is why Drew joined the LibDems and why he is delighted to represent Stockton South in the 2017 general election

Drew says "The values and policies of the Liberal Democrats can be relied on to build a better future for the people of Stockton. If you are concerned about the Conservative policy on Brexit and Europe, vote LibDem. If you recognise that Labour under Jeremy Corbyn are rudderless and too left wing, vote LibDem. If you are horrified by the intolerance of UKIP towards the immigrants that help keep our economy strong, vote LibDem. If you want to see our NHS properly funded and integrated with Social Care, vote LibDem.

So if you want to change direction over Brexit and build a fairer society with opportunity for everyone, vote for Drew Durning Liberal Democrat

Second job statement

If elected, I will only work as a full time member of parliament. I will do no second jobs. I will put a manager in place to run my own small business.

About Drew Durning

Drew grew up in St Albans, Hertfordshire, spent a period of time working abroad and then raised his two daughters in Buckinghamshire. He is married and now lives and works within the Stockton South constituency

After an initial career in marketing with companies such as, the Rank Organisation and Trusthouse Forte, Drew spent 6 years as Marketing Director with brands including Travelodge, Little Chef and Pizza Hut. He was then Managing Director of an advertising agency before setting up his own online business, selling organic products which is based in Stockton-on-Tees. As an entrepreneur and businessman he understands the importance of inward investment into the Teesside area and is keen to promote Lib Dem policies that encourage skills development and economic growth.

Drew initially decided to stand for parliament in 2015 partly because of the rise of UKIP and the threat to Britain as a tolerant, open society with an international outlook. This time, he is driven by the need to support the 48% who voted to Remain and those in the 52% who did not want Theresa May's extreme version of Brexit.

Drew is a long term member of the Soil Association and takes green issues very seriously. He is immensely proud of Lib Dem green achievements in government and our radical and pragmatic policies to address climate change.
