Welcome to Stockton-on-Tees Liberal Democrats

This is the website for the Liberal Democrats based in Stockton-on-Tees covering the Stockton North and Stockton South constituencies. Since the referendum in 2016 we've had a lot of new members join. People who are unhappy with the outcome and the way it was won. People who want to join the Fightback to protect human rights and civil liberties, to protect the NHS, to reform our broken electoral system and to provide a coherent opposition to the Hard Brexit Conservative government.

This website gives you the opportunity to find out more about Lib Dem parliamentary candidates and councillors and our policies and news. We would also love to hear from you and get you involved in campaigning for the party

While the majority of people in Stockton may have voted to leave the EU many of those did not vote for the extreme form of Brexit that Theresa May has imposed on us after being backed by Labour. And the views of the Remain voters should not be ignored.

For all those who want to protect our local economy by staying in the Single Market and ensure the people have the final say over what comes next, the Liberal Democrats offer you the only consistent, credible party fighting for that.

The Liberal Democrats are the real opposition to the Conservative Brexit Government and the only party fighting for a Britain that is open, tolerant and united.

Why You Should Join The Lib Dems

Our constitution starts with these words... "The Liberal Democrats exist to build and safeguard a fair, free and open society, in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community, and in which no one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity." We're not here to support the privileged or to implement the policies of the trade unions.

We are internationalists who believe in the UK's membership of the European Union and who want to treat immigrants as positively as the British would hope to be treated if we moved abroad. If that sounds like the sort of party you would like to be a member of, then you can join as a member for as little as £12 a year, or as a student from just £1 a year. Click here to join
