1. Preston Park

a. An inspection has given the go-ahead for the Summer Show. The recent

dry weather has resulted in the Park being almost dried out and Stockton

Council's Grounds Maintenance have been given the green light to

reinstate the damaged areas to the Park. Some parts are still damp but

the main field is drying out well and the long- range weather forecast is

favourable. The Show takes place from Friday, 24 August until Monday, 27

August with family entertainment each day. Tickets are priced £3 for

adults and £1.50 for children and the over-60s (free admission for

under-fives and wheelchair users). Advanced family tickets are available

from the Environment Centre, West Row, and they offer a saving with a one

day ticket at £6 and four day tickets only £15 for two adults and two

children or one adult and three children.

b. An informal meeting is to be held at Preston Hall Museum and anyone

interested in joining a friends and supporters group is encouraged to

come along and find out more. Stockton Council is currently working on a

submission to the Heritage Lottery Fund to carry out development and

improvements to Preston Hall Museum and it is vital to be able to show

public support and interest. The event, in the Ballroom will take place

on Thursday, 23 August at 7pm. Refreshments are available.

c. Owing to unforeseen circumstances, the Billingham Silver Band did not

perform this weekend at Preston Park. This Band will be back at Preston

Park on Sunday, September 2, from 2pm - 4pm.

d. Green Trolley, directed and designed by two MA Design Students from

Teesside University, is a thought-provoking exhibition promoting local

produce whilst discussing the topic of food miles, with activities for

all ages. Open weekdays 1000 to 1630, weekends 1100 to 1630, 24 Aug. to

7 Sept.

2. St Andrew's Close

Stockton Council's engineers plan to start this month resurfacing the

full length of the footpath.

3. The Avenue

Stockton Council has received an Application to remove overhanging

branches from 2 sycamore trees at Teesside High School.

4. Yarm Road

a. No. 654-656 - There was an error in Focus 141 - Stockton Council's

Planning Committee did not give full planning permission. The decision

was deferred to Officers, who refused it.

b. No. 558B - Stockton Council planners have given permission for change

of use of the ground floor from Sunday school & youth meetings to

residential (1 flat) & erection of disabled access ramp.

c. No. 690 - Stockton Council's Planning Committee will consider at its

meeting in public at 1330 on 29-8-07 in Stockton Central Library the

revised application for residential development comprising 10 new build

apartments and conversion of existing dwelling into 4 apartments together

with associated access, parking and landscaping.

d. NWL works at Station Road / The Avenue for sewer works from 5th August

for 20 days. Works involve the use of temporary traffic signals.

5. 7 Butts Lane

The Secretary of State has dismissed an appeal against Stockton Council's

refusal of permission to fell 1 Scots pine tree covered by a Tree

Preservation Order.

6. Newsham

a. Stockton Council have received a retrospective planning application

for the installation of 4 6-metre-high lighting poles to illuminate

ménage at Ryehills Equestrian Centre. Comments by 6-9-07.

b. Stockton Council have received an application to vary a condition on

the existing approval for development of the S side of Durham Tees Valley

Airport for airport-related activities so as to permit general employment

uses falling within Use Classes B1, B2 & B8 & to require not less than 20

ha. To be available for general employment use. Comments by 5-9-07.

7. Wass Way

Stockton Council have received a planning application for the erection of

4 factory units on Durham Lane Industrial Park. Comments by 6-9-07.

8. A66

There are overnight closures planned of the A66 in both directions at

Surtees Bridge between the 21st and 22nd August to install the bridge

deck. The road will be CLOSED between 19:30 and 06:30 with signed

diversions in place.
